Skydive
Are you looking for an adrenalin rush?
Then why not sign up for a Tandem Skydive and raise funds for Chilterns MS Centre?

There are two dates booked for 2008, Saturday 31st May and Saturday 14th June.
If you would like to take part, click here for an application pack to be sent to you. (Please put Skydive application in the subject line). You will need to be over eighteen, unless you obtain written parental consent. If you're over forty, your GP will need to sign to say you are fit to jump. There are just a couple of restrictions: height 6'5" and max weight of 15 stone. Each jump, which the Chilterns MS Centre pays for upfront, is £200. We ask all Skydivers to raise a minimum of £500 sponsorship and the jump price will be included. Obviously we'd like you to raise much more than £500! You will also have the opportunity to buy a DVD of your jump at a cost to you on the day of £90. Linda Oatley (Trustee and patient) who took part in the 2006 event says 'Give it a try... you haven't lived until you've jumped'!

MS Challenge 2008
11th - 13th July

Teams from all over the British Isles gather in Capel Curig, Snowdonia for this fun team-building event. The challenge is to carry a wheelchair passenger with MS safely over a demanding 10km mountain course.
Do you want to enjoy a fabulous team building experience? Why not get a team of people (eight to twelve people) to do the MS Challenge and raise sponsorship for the Chilterns MS Centre.
We are looking for teams to support this event or sponsor people in the event. Each team gets an allocated time slot to do the Challenge so you will be active for up to 4 hours depending on how you all get along.
Chilterns MS Centre Physiotherapist Des Gilmore who took part in the event last year said, "It was a muddy, exhausting and enjoyable time. A fabulous way to raise money for the Centre while sharing an exhilarating experience with a team willing to punish themselves for a good cause."
You can stay for the day you are doing the Challenge or you can stay the whole weekend and meet the other teams and enjoy the atmosphere - the choice is yours.
If you would like to know more, click here for an information pack to be sent to you.

The Great British Duck Race
On Sunday 2nd September 2007, The Great British Duck Race will take place down a 1km stretch of the River Thames near Hampton Court Palace. The target is to race 165,000 ducks, breaking a new World Record and raising more than £500,000 for UK Charities!
CHILTERNS MS CENTRE can share in the funds raised with a little help from our supporters. All you need do is visit www.thegreatbritishduckrace.co.uk and select CHILTERNS MS CENTRE as the benefiting charity for your ducks. The Great British Duck Race will do the rest. You are not restricted to one duck, buy as many as you like and tell your friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances... the more ducks we sell, the more money we make.
This is how it works; it costs just £2 to adopt a duck (which includes a donation to charity) plus a recommended donation of £3 per duck which comes directly to CHILTERNS MS CENTRE. Every duck entered has the chance to win a fantastic prize and the winning duck wins a massive £10,000.
CHILTERNS MS CENTRE has registered it’s very own page which is now live on The Great British Duck Race website and can be easily accessed on the following link:

Art Exhibition
March 10th & 11th 2007
Chilterns MS Centre

Our recent second annual art exhibition was a fantastic success. The exhibition was held on March 10th & 11th and as with last year was organized by Senior Physio Dagny Lund. Dagny was helped by many volunteers who amongst other things made delicious cakes and pastries for sale. There was also a substantial increase in the number of artists exhibiting and an increase in the number of works shown…Dagny managed to cover pretty much every vacant wall in the Centre. Also for the first time Dagny included pottery, ceramics & embroidery among the oils, watercolours and photography.
We are delighted to announce that a total of £9,000 was taken over the two days £6,000 all of which goes the Centre; this included a massive £500 taken for teas and about £800 taken in voluntary contributions at the door.

Natasha Vicars: Natasha is currently studying for a Fine Art BA at Wimbledon College of Art, part of the University of Arts London. She previously worked in PR and secondary teaching, after gaining a first degree in Natural Sciences at Churchill College, Cambridge. Natasha’s mother is a member of the Centre and visits every week for treatment. All seven of Natasha’s works were sold over the weekend.

21st Birthday Charity Ball
16th September 2006
Halton House, Wendover.
Another major fundraiser this year is our 21st Birthday Charity Ball to held on Saturday September 16th at the RAF's Halton House, Wendover. Halton House was formally the Rothschild Mansion. The venue is spectacular and will provide a wonderful backdrop and hopefully we will raise a great deal of money, ALL of which goes to the charity. As a major part of the fundraising element we have a professional auctioneer who has volunteered his time to help us raise funds selling interesting items and items that have a value beyond their ‘cover’ price; for example we have a First Edition Harry Potter novel signed by J. K. Rowling and some terrific sporting memorabilia. We hope to raise in excess of £10,000. The ticket price of £75 per person will include; a champagne reception, three course dinner and wine. We will also have some fantastic entertainment including a surprise guest, music & dancing. Take a look at the venue on their website: www.haltonhouse.org.uk
Tickets can be reserved by calling the Centre on 01296 696133.
Hurry - tickets are going fast!
RAF Halton Station Commander,
Group Captain John Harrison
has made our venue for the Charity Ball
possible with his very generous offer
of Halton House.
Charity Ball Auction
16th September 2006
Please click on the image below, which is a list of items due to come under the hammer on Saturday Sept 16th at the Chilterns Charity Ball. I felt it would be a good idea to let as many people see the list before the event just in case anyone would like to make a bid on any item. If you are interested in any item & would like to make a serious bid, please get back to me with your bid and your name & address. (Obviously if you’re coming to the Ball you can make the bid there; if, for example you would like to bid for the Wentworth Golf day - with a ‘retail’ value of £1100 - you might want to arrange a consortium to ensure that your bid is the highest.)
To make a bid; list your name & contact details, item description and maximum bid and email to me before 12 noon on Saturday 16th September 2006. If your bid is successful I will email you on Sunday 17th September to arrange collection & payment.
If you require further details about any of the items please let me know: linda.oatley@blueyonder.co.uk
The Ball is to raise money for the Chilterns MS Centre; ALL of the funds raised go directly to provide services for people with multiple sclerosis.
Thank you
