Fundraising Support Groups
We are always pleased to hear of new fundraising support groups being formed.
The groups are vital to us as they help raise the profile of the centre and also raise money by organising fundraising initiatives.
Haddenham Hillbillies fundraising support group
Martin Roberts from Haddenham had to undergo a marathon 10 hour operation and as he lay recuperating he decided to do something to help others.
With the help of his friend Dave Finch also from Haddenham he founded the Haddenham Hillbillies, who describe themselves as a rustic group of cyclists dedicated to raising funds for the Chilterns MS Centre.
The Hillbillies group grew to 13 members and together they trained hard for a gruesome challenge they had planned for September, 2012. They decided to ride an extremely demanding 200 mile route from Whitehaven to Robin Hood Bay, over mountains and through dales, into the teeth of howling head winds.
Sore bottoms and aching in every limb, they arrived triumphant at their destination and in the process they raised a truly impressive and much needed £11,722.40 for Chilterns MS Centre.
