Thinking of fundraising for the Centre?
If you would like to take part in a sponsored event, you can use the Just Giving website to have your own fundraising page and get your friends and family to sponsor you directly. It avoids you having to chase your sponsors for money and Gift Aid is automatically added to your total if the sponsors are UK tax payers.
Look up http://www.justgiving.com/chilternsmsc/raisemoney to be guided through the very easy process.
If you would like hard copies of sponsor forms and or fundraising advice please contact Fundraising.
Do inform Celia in Fundraising of your plans to raise funds for the Centre and also if you can write a short article and send a photo of you fundraising, we can highlight what you have done on our website.
Alternative Gifts
It might be that you would rather your friends and loved ones make a donation to the Chilterns MS Centre, instead of giving you another present which you feel you don’t really need. Whether you are celebrating something special, such as a marriage, anniversary or a birthday, you could instead consider requesting that donations are made to the Centre. Les Barber recently did just that; he celebrated his 60th birthday Caribbean style and invited 60 of his closest friends attending his celebration to make a donation. Les said “When you get to my age there really isn’t anything you need and I would much rather the money that would have been spent on presents be put to good use. If more of us did this, charities would receive much needed income and more people could benefit from their work.” A wonderful total of £1,040 was split between Chilterns MS Centre and another chosen charity. If you are thinking of doing something similar, please contact Fundraising and we will be happy to provide some special cards with our logo stating how guests can donate to the Centre. Volunteers needed
Would you like to help in the Fundraising Office? Volunteers are required to help answer the phone, input data, research for prizes, help plan events or design promotional materials. Ideally volunteers will be able to use basic systems on the computer, use the internet and be happy answering the phone. It might be that you are given a specific project or help more generally, depending on your skills and what you are happy doing. There will be many opportunities to help, all adding to help raise funds for people with MS.
Great Weather Lottery
If you would like to join the Great Weather Lottery scheme you can ask for a leaflet from Fundraising or click on www.theweatherlottery.org.uk. How it works:
You choose six numbers from 0 to 9 and enter them in the centre panel inside the leaflet. If your numbers match the last digit of the daily Fahrenheit temperatures (in the right order) of Corfu, Istanbul, Tenerife, Innsbruck, Edinburgh and Stockholm, you win the top prize of £10,000! The Cost:
Each entry line (i.e. each set of 6 numbers) costs £1 per week (25p per day). There is a draw every day from Monday to Thursday; you have a chance of winning a prize four times a week! You pay monthly by standing order. Where the Money Goes:
All the money is kept securely in a stakeholder fund, and more than a third comes back to Chilterns MS Centre. How you know if you have won:
You can check your numbers in the Daily Telegraph or by calling 0113 275 0002. However, there is no need for you to check them as all prizes are guaranteed and sent out automatically. Corporate Fundraising

Fundraising Support Groups
Would you like to be part of a Fundraising Group in your local area? We are recruiting groups in the region to support the Chilterns MS Centre by holding local fundraising initiatives such as events, stalls at community groups or maybe street collections. You would have the support of the Fundraising Manager but the important thing will be to help raise the profile of the Centre and raise funds. For further information on how you can help please contact Celia.
Recycling
Please remember Chilterns MS Centre if you have an old mobile phone to be recycled. This would be particularly beneficial if you can convince a company you might work for to support the Centre. Recycling envelopes can be collected from the Centre. If you would like one posted please contact Fundraising. Please click the Recycle 4 Charity banner above to find out how you can recycle your inkjets; alternatively if you have just a few ink cartridges to be recycled you can be sent some envelopes from the Centre.
