Councillor Mimi Harker started the 184 runners off on the Prestwood 10k from Sprinters Leisure Centre on Sunday 14th May. Renowned for being a very picturesque course with the bluebells in full bloom, this year a 5k course attracting 54 runners was also added. The event raised an incredible £7,800 for the Centre, £2,300 more than last year.

“This is my final engagement as Chairman of Chiltern District Council and it is certainly one that I will remember fondly” Cllr Harker said. “I was pleased to get involved again with this local charity that does so much for people with MS. There was a fantastic community atmosphere with over 100 children involved in the fun runs this year and I was delighted to give each one a medal for taking part as well as starting the 5k and 10k”.

Last years Men’s 10k winner, Charlie May of the Vale of Aylesbury Athletics Club (see left with Sharon Deacon; CMSC Community Fundraiser), was first home again in less than 35 minutes – faster than last year.  He was followed by Mark Williams of Bryants Bottom Trotters. Claire Pusey won the Ladies’ 10k, the Men’s 5k was won by Gareth Kegg and the Michelle Booth was first in the new Ladies’ 5k race. The Bryants Bottom Trotters also won the 1st Men’s Team and the Chiltern Harriers the 1st Women’s team.

It was a fantastic morning and we were so pleased with how many runners we had in all the races. We had fantastic support from local businesses, DC Kaye Solicitors our main sponsor, Malt the Brewery sponsored the Children’s’ races and the Mid-Counties Co-operative who gave out goody bags to all the competitors. Thanks also go to the local Rotary club helped to register runners and marshall the races for us.  See the prizes and sponsor details here.
