Stuart Garwood – Volunteer Oxygen Operator
I have been a volunteer oxygen operator for the past 7 months. My family has been involved with the Centre for the past 20 years as my son Rob had primary progressive MS and came to the old Centre for physiotherapy. After I retired I decided that I wanted to give something back and help the Centre and volunteering was one way I could do that.
It’s such an amazing atmosphere here. I chose Oxygen as I have a technical background and the chamber is a bit of a big boys’ toy so it’s good fun. I also do the occasional collection days at Wycombe Wanderers too.
I get huge self-satisfaction knowing that what I do can help people and I wanted to give back to the Centre because of the support we have had for the last 20 years. I also help out at some of the events, which are a lot of fun.
I would recommend volunteering at the Centre to everyone. I get a real kick out of it and everyone is friendly. No matter what they are going through nobody moans and they always have a smile on their face. It’s a really great place to work.
