Centre volunteer wins Wendover Volunteer of the Year

The Chilterns MS Centre is celebrating the success of one of its volunteers at the Wendover Parish Council Community Awards after Jan Ward was named Volunteer of the Year.

Jan has volunteered for the Centre for six years, starting in the café serving and baking cakes before becoming a buddy volunteer during lockdown, regularly calling members for social support. More recently she has trained to be an Oxygen operator and is now doing all three roles.

“Jan is so deserving of this award and we are incredibly proud of her,” said Jo Kendall, Centre Support Manager. “She as shown so much dedication to the Centre and all those who we seek to support and is an absolute joy to work with.”

“To me, it is just lovely to be able to provide support, not just for people with MS, but also their families and carer support network,” said Jan. “I’m very flattered to have been nominated and honoured to have received this award.”

The Chilterns MS Centre has an incredible team of volunteers without whom the Centre would not be able to run. From covering the reception to serving in the café, from working in the garden to helping provide therapy, volunteers are an essential part of the team.
