Centre receives a boost from the Look Forward Masonic Lodge.

We are very grateful to have received a donation of £1000 from the members of Look Forward Masonic Lodge No 9305 in Surrey.

Our Facilities Manager, Terry Baldwin was Master of the Look Forward Lodge in 2014, but missed out on the usual Master’s donation to the charities of his choice as the Province of Surrey was in a five-year Festival.  This is a period when all the Masonic Lodges in Surrey fundraise for the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The Festival finished last year starting a new five year period supporting non-masonic charities.  This gives members of the Lodge a new impetus to raise money to allow the five Festival Past Masters as well as the coming Masters of the Lodge to make donations to charities of their choice.

Knowing how important our support is to our members, Terry chose to support the Chilterns MS Centre, as well as Teddies for Loving Care, a charity that provides comforting teddy bears for children in accident and emergency wards.

The money will help towards keeping the Centre open to our members so that they can receive the support, therapy and advice to help them to live a fulfilling life with multiple sclerosis (MS).  MS is a debilitating disease of the nervous system for which there is no cure.  Symptoms vary but can include chronic fatigue, cognitive problems, loss of sight, difficulty with mobility and balance and bladder control.  Many people feel a real loss of purpose and frustration at not being able to do the simplest of things.  But for just £25 a year the Centre helps them to learn to live with their MS and lead a full life despite the obstacles that their condition puts in their way.  During the pandemic our online services have been a lifeline to our members, helping to keep both their mobility and their mental health as well as possible.

Thank you so much to Terry and all the other members of the Lodge for your generosity.
