Sue’s Challenge for Cary-Ann

Sue’s 70 for 70 Challenge

Cary-Ann Redman-Brown was a regular face and much-loved member at the Centre.  She asked her mum Sue Geis to take on a fundraising challenge to swim 70 miles over the year of her 70th birthday to raise money for the Centre.  When Cary-Ann sadly passed away in 2020, Sue decided to complete her fundraiser in memory of her daughter.  When pools had to close during the first lockdown she put her challenge on hold, and as time went on she was forced to think outside the box.  Instead, Sue completed 40 minutes of exercise PLUS a 5-mile bike ride instead of each 1-mile swim.  Wow!

She has faced many hurdles along the way including a broken bike, injured arm and some bent glasses, but was determined to keep her pledge to Cary-Ann.

We are delighted to say that Sue completed her challenge and has raised over £1,200!  Thank you so much to Sue and her family for continuing to support the Centre.
