MS can have a significant impact on your emotional well-being, affecting your ability to feel, think and behave as you wish. This can detract from your ability to cope with day to day living, engagement in activities of your choice, plus socialising and enjoying life generally.
This is true for both those with a diagnosis of MS and also for some close members of their family.
Carolyn Angell is our Clinical Counsellor at the Chilterns MS Centre. She joined the team in August 2015.
Counselling is therefore available at the Centre for both members and their families. The format of the sessions is flexible, initially providing an empathetic listening ear and then tailoring future sessions to meet the needs of what you wish to achieve and how you prefer to work. Using a range of techniques the counselling is aimed to help you improve your emotional well-being and general outlook on life.
Carolyn offers both one to one consultations and group programmes to help you manage your emotional well-being. The group programmes are run jointly by Carolyn and Amy, our OT, to ensure that with this skill mix the needs of all the participants can be met successfully. The focus is on enskilling, enabling and empowering you.
Please get in touch if you would like a referral to Carolyn.
