I have been here for about 3 ½ years. I have always worked with the public and when I retired I thought that I wanted to do something as I missed being with people. My husband has MS so I thought I would come to the Centre and volunteer here Volunteering suits me because I love being with people, meeting new people and sharing their lives with them. It’s really rewarding. It’s also nice to be missed. If one of us is off one week we are missed by the members. I would absolutely recommend volunteering here to other people. The Centre is welcoming, bright and cheery, in spite of some people being in wheelchairs and living with the symptoms of MS. It’s uplifting really.

I have been volunteering here for about 2 years. I was looking to do some more volunteering and have volunteered for Robert in the past so I came to see him and have been here ever since. I did start on the Pop-up Art Weekend committee and also started covering on reception occasionally. Then I met Pam and we’ve been doing Tuesday mornings together ever since. I like volunteering because it’s nice to feel that you can be of use. When I came up here I was amazed at how all the members were so welcoming, and the fact that they were always saying thank you. To feel that thanks is something quite special. The Centre has a buzz about it. You can feel that people want to be here. Being on reception you are part of the atrium where they have coffee and lunch and so you are aware of the social side of it and can see how much they enjoy it. I would definitely recommend volunteering here. Different roles suit different people and there are many different roles available here. I still work on the Pop-up Art Weekend committee too.
